This is an author who is quick and precise in language and knowing how to communicate. Let Richard Osman entertain you with 91 chapters that whizz along taking us from Sussex to Staffordshire and into the heart of London, with in-jokes - not slapstick comedy - all told in Osman's inimitable spare prose, so well-crafted it never gets in the way of the reader's enjoyment or speed. There are lots of new characters who are as entertaining and believable as the familiar supporting cast whose circumstances and relationships continue to evolve in touching, amusing and beguiling ways.

) and clever storyline were a perfect way to continue this series! I absolutely loved being back with the gang for this read as they solve crimes, track down criminal masterminds and interview quiz show hosts and cannot recommend this book enough! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - this series is not for die-hard mystery/thriller fans; it’s light and it’s fun with a gripping mystery thrown in. Satisfying and heart-warming, this book kept me smiling and guessing.

I delayed reading it; although I bought a signed copy upon its release. The twists and mysteries aren’t obviously solved, mainly because it will be some wild reach by one of the pensioners that cracks it, which would have me eye-rolling if the whole thing wasn’t so charming and intentionally comical. There is tension, mystery, thrills and comic set pieces.
